SUNDAY, DAY 1- EN ROUTE We suggest an evening departure from the U.S. to Nairobi.
MONDAY, DAY 2- NAIROBI
“Jambo” – welcome – the Safari Capital of the world. Transfer to your hotel set among sumptuous gardens with a casino and Olympic-sized swimming pool. Evening at leisure.
TUESDAY, DAY 3- NAIROBI
After breakfast, visit the Nairobi Hebrew Synagogue to hear about Kenyan Jewish life. Then this afternoon visit to the Kenya Cultural Center, a kaleidoscope of the country;’s treasured arts, crafts, songs, daily life and traditions. See folk dancing in superb setting and visit authentic bomas (villages) representative of Kenya’s 16 different ethnic groups. This evening, our Cocktail Party and Dinner is followed by an African Dance Performance. BD
WEDNESDAY, DAY 4- NAIROBI-ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK
Today, we head north – into the heart of East Africa. This is the big-game country in all its splendor. The day begins early and the drive is spectacular. First stop: Aberdare on the Eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley where majestic Mt. Kenya dominates the land-scape. After lunch at the Aberdare Country Club continue to The Ark – a modern viewing wonder perched atop a natural spur a mile and a half up. All around you see lush mountain forests and watering holes where elephant, buffalo, rhino and giant forest hogs come to sample the salt lick. Warm clothing is advisable as nights tend to be chilly, but only an overnight bag is required – rest of your luggage is stored at the Aberdare Country Club.Dinner and overnight. BLD
THURSDAY, DAY 5- ABERDARE-MT. KENYA
Return to the Country Club for your luggage and proceed immediately to the Mt.Kenya region. Deep in Kikuyu country, miles from civilization, is a magnificent resort built on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. The Mt. Kenya Safari Club is world-renowned for the sheer luxury of its accommodations and utter drama of its setting. It is a day for relaxation and roaming the resort’s magnificent grounds. Bird-watch, fish, play tennis or golf – Relax poolside. BLD
FRIDAY THRU SATURDAY – DAY 6,7, MASA MARA
After breakfast, transfer to the Nanyuki airstrip for a 45minute flight to the storied Masai Mara and Northern Serengeti. From the plane see the sweeping landscapes of Kenya and multitudes of game crossing the vast and varied terrain. On the ground, you’re as close as you’ll ever be to migrating herds, prides of lion lazing in the shade, zebra, wildebeest and ivory-tusked elephants. Morning and afternoon game drives during the two days, to take it all in. BLD
SUNDAY, DAY 8- MASAI MARA-NAIROBI-AMBOSELI
This morning, a last chance to photograph the wildlife of Masai Mara, before returning to Nairobi by air. After lunch, in a local restaurant, drive south and become transfixed by the imposing sight of the legendary Mount Kilimanjaro – the backdrop of Amboseli National Park. BLD
MONDAY, DAY 9- AMBOSELLI
Famous for it s awesome scenery, Amboseli is home to the “big five” – elephant, leopard, lion, rhino and buffalo – that roam freely amongst the proud Masai warriors tending their cattle. On these open plains, countless other species of animals appear mixing with abundant birdlife. While here, you’ll go out for early morning and late afternoon game drives. BLD
TUESDAY, DAY 10–LAKE MANYARA
This morning, cross the border into Tanzania and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The Park is home to the tree-climbing lion, flamingos, pelicans, leopards, rhinos and large herds of elephants and buffalo. Our lodging is the new Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, situated at the edge of an escarpment, that overlooks both the Great Rift Valley and Manyara’s beautiful soda lake. BLD
WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, DAY 11&12 NGORONGORO CRATER
After a game drive at Lake Manyara, head northwest across the rim of the Valley to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, Africa’s “Garden of Eden”, one of the largest extinct volcanic craters in the world. The second morning, you descend into the Crater, which appears to be a vast blue lake. As you draw closer to the floor, you see, in actuality, it is an unspoiled, plain, swarming with roving wildlife. Your lodging for the two days, high on the Crater’s rim, is the spectacularly designed Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. BLD
FRIDAY, DAY 13 – NAIROBI
Fly to Nairobi via Arusha. A picnic box lunch will be given en route in Arusha. We’ve provided a day room for your convenience in Nairobi. Tonight, our Farewell Shabbat dinner at your hotel caps an exciting journey. BLD
SATURDAY, DAY 14- NAIROBI
Shabbat at leisure. Take a walk along Kenyatta Avenue to browse the shops and boutiques. Late evening transfer to the airport and your flight back to the U.S. B
